You may have had your own reminders of this change – preparing your children getting back to school or you may be looking forward to that last weekend summer getaway.

It seems, that sometimes when reminders force us to take notice of what is ahead, we may become saddened – we don’t want to let go of the warm weather, time spent outdoors...

Food & Sleep Quality

We all know that getting a good night’s rest is essential for maintaining balance in our lives and can improve our overall health. However, we may also experience times when we do not get the highest quality sleep that we intended for. According to Science Blog, a recent article from the Journal for Alternative and Complementary medicine reports that individuals who are seeking treatment for depression may benefit from Positive Activity Interventions and it costs little to nothing.

Positive Activity Interventions are methods in which once can increase their positive thinking,...

I experienced what I call the “full spectrum” of everything you could imagine that would come up while being in silence for those two days.  Pleasure, pain, pain and pleasure at the same time, boredom, joy, etc.

One fascinating moment occurred when eating lunch on the first day. There I was indulging in great food in silence while sitting with fellow yogis. I smiled at myself and...

The Power of Nature

Feeling stressed, tired, or burnt out? It may be helpful to take a walk, or if you are lucky enough to be living in the beautiful state of Vermont, take a moment and take in a spectacular scene of the Green Mountains or Lake Champlain. Being in nature, researchers understand, has restorative power to nurture our selves.

In an article featured on the Miller-McCune website, researchers found that being in nature, even if it is noticing a potted plant in your home or office, allows our brains to take attention to our surroundings in a relaxed manner....
